With El discurso Marina Perea breaks the fourth wall to maddress the spectator directly, to expose her thoughts and emotions, her reflection on the world in which we live, but looking backwards to maintain the origins in the present. With humorous connotations together with the right amount of dramatism that flamenco needs to exist, in this new proposal Marina introduces words in the form of a monologue. She shows us very specific details, the elements of life that are essential for her, stories that marked her career, and thus, her person. An embrace, a conversation, a scarf, a song, an odour…will give substance and form to this discourse.
In 2019, Marina Perea premiered MaraMante with Lucía Ruibal, and together with Teresa Hernández, (singer and second guitar in El discurso) she is the director of shows like El cafetín de la doña and Noches de glorias, premiered at the 2021 Community of Madrid festival’s Escenas de verano.
