With a musical career spanning more than two decades, Quique González, who is from Madrid, has published a new collection of songs composed in the Valles Pasiegos of Cantabria. The title of his thirteenth album is inspired by the famous south wind of the Cantabrian Coast, known for the unusual events it causes and which is associated to all sorts of legends. There is always room for the unexpected when the south wind blows, a halo of mystery that also permeates some of the passages of these new pieces.
Sur en el valle is a tranquil, soothing record, more reflexive than narrative, in which nature and scenery condition the inner dialogue that strings the eleven tracks together; sound that is organic, direct, of contained energy, a bit distanced from the American-like sounds of the previous records. Sur en el valle searches for new sound landscapes and gives greater prominence to acoustic instruments, such as the double bass and the classical guitar.
