Alexandra Dovgan (Moscow, 2007) began piano lessons at the age of four and a half, and was admitted to the demanding Central School of the Moscow State Conservatory when she was five. She was fourteen when she became known by the general public, having won some of the most prestigious international piano competitions, including the Vladimir Krainev of Moscow, the “Astana Piano Passion” Young Pianists Competition and the Nutcracker International Television Contest for Young Musicians. Alexandra was only ten when she won the Grand Prix at the Il International Grand Piano Competition in Moscow, the city where she was born. A pupil of the maestro Grigori Sokolox, she is an extremely mature pianist: “Do not focus on her age; do not limit her to the label of “child prodigy”; simply feel the wonder of her music. You will discover a great pianist.” She has had a vertiginous career, at the age of seventeen having already offered recitals at the Salzburger Festspiele, Berlin Philharmonie, Verbier Festival, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Konzerthaus of Vienna, Boulez-Saal of Berlín, Théâtre des Champs Elysées in París, Victoria Hall in Geneva and Gulbenkian in Lisbon, as well as having performed under the baton of Paavo Järvi, Ton Koopman, Gustavo Dudamel and Trevor Pinnock.
