The flamenco singer Juan José Villar Jiménez, also known as Juan Villar (Cadiz, 1947), is an essential  member of the legendary Jineto flamenco family and patriarch of his own lineage, that of the Villar family. He made his debut at the age of seven in the group Los Chavalillos Gaditanos. During his time in Madrid at the flamenco tablao venues Canasteros and Torres Bermejas, accompanying La Tati, Manuela Carrasco, Faíco and El Güito. As headliner in the major flamenco festivals of the seventies and eighties along with fellow artists such as Carmen Linares, Camarón, El Lebrijano, La Paquera, Paco de Lucía, Manolo Sanlúcar, Agujetas, María Vargas and Pansequito, he constantly exhibited his extraordinary personality and depth performing bulerías, tangos, soleares, fandangos, alegrías,  and seguiriyas. He has also performed on stages all around the world, and has earned recognition as "guardian of the flamenco songs of Cadiz" and as a legend of flamenco.
The last two awards he has received for his career is the Honour Prize at the 8th edition of the Manolo Sanlucar International Flamenco Award and as a dedicatee of the 3rd Flamenco Biennial of Cadiz, Jerez and Los Puertos (2023).
Juan Villar is respected and admired by flamenco singers and fans of all ages.
In 1975, a flamenco club in his hometown of La Caleta, one of the most active of Andalusia, was named after him.
This tribute to Juan Villar will bring together his colleagues and friends, all of them leading figures in the world of flamenco.
