Lela Solo’s first record, El fuego que llevo dentro, is inspired by classical flamenco but with a new, personal touch. The album reveals her strong personality, shaped by the legacy she has received from her lineage. Her journey through the different types of flamenco songs pays tribute to said ancestry, in particular to the gypsy women of her family. Her style stands out for its intonation, sense of rhythm, musicality and the flamenco essence of her voice, making her a contemporary reference of the genre.
Lela Soto (Madrid, 1992), one of the most promising young singers of the current flamenco scene in Spain, is also the youngest artist of the legendary flamenco dynasty “los Sordera”’. She is the daughter of Vicente Soto ‘Sordera’ and flamenco dancer Luisa Heredia, and niece of Sorderita and Ray Heredia. But Lela brings fresh air and new forms of expression to her singing, which shows the influence of jazz, blues, salsa and R&B. This is why she is considered “a flamenco singer of the 21st century” who anticipates the flamenco of the future.
Lela Soto has been collaborating for several years with different artists, including as Alejandro Sanz, Pitingo, Navajita Plateá and Diego del Morao, in their recordings and on their tours.
She sang ‘Torbellino de colores’ for the CD Lola Flores. Homenaje. In 2017 she performed at the prestigious World Music Festival in Copenhagen (Denmark) and was awarded First Prize at the Talento Flamenco Competition organised by the Cristina Heeren Foundation. She has participated in the Viernes Flamencos of Jerez and the Flamenco Biennial of Seville, amongst other well-known festivals and venues.
