Los tres reyes brings together a group of artists From Jerez de la Frontera to celebrate the zambomba, the most popular and participatory festivity of the city of Jerez. On this occasion we will be visited by Tomasa Guerrero Carrasco ‘la Macanita’, a flamenco singer with an ample repertoire, known for her depth, strong temperament and ability to sing long series of verses. She is the successor of notable figures of flamenco cante, such as La Paquera, Fernanda de Utrera and La Perla de Cádiz as well as Felipa del Moreno, one of the genre’s topmost figures from one of the great families of flamenco singers, like the Pantoja and the Moneo families, and Fernando Soto, a descendent of the Soto-Valencia family and cousin of Pitingo. All of them, surrounded by the guitars, percussion, dancing and clapping of marvelous artists from Jerez, will make Christmas shine with great intensity.
In the month of December, Jerez de la Frontera becomes the stage for the zambombas, one of the most typical cultural and festive customs of Andalusian folklore. Since the 18th century, on Christmas eve friends, neighbours and relatives get together in their community courtyards and on the streets of their neigbourhoods to sing and dance Christmas carols.
The zambomba, declared a Cultural Interest Asset in Spain, has become in recent years a spectacle that attracts thousands of visitors from Spain and from abroad.
