Afro-Cuban singer, songwriter, record producer and spectacular showman Cimafunk, whose name is a reference to his heritage as a cimarrón, Cubans of African descent who resisted and escaped slavery, visits Teatro Cervantes on his world tour to present his latest album, Pa'tu cuerpa (2024), nominated for Best Latin Rock or Alternative Album at the 2025 Grammy Awards. The album’s eleven tracks reaffirm Cimafunk's status as one of the most innovative artists in contemporary Afro-Latin music. Their sound, which aims to subvert classic Cuban rhythms, such as timba or trova, with revolutionary blends of funk, afrobeat and hip hop, is reinforced on stage by the nine members of the band -La Tribu-, all musicians from Havana who offer the audience an electrifying show, a celebration of groove and an unforgettable sound and corporal experience.
In 2017, Cimafunk’s debut album, Terapia, an independent production that fuses funk with Afro-Cuban music in a totally novel manner, not only marked the beginning of his solo career but was also a turning point in contemporary Cuban music. International recognition came quickly and in 2019, Billboard selected him as one of the 10 Latin artists to follow closely. Cimafunk is pure talent, a bridge between cultures and, above all, a creative force in constant evolution.
