Thousands of years ago, somewhere in history and in the world, a group of humans, surrounded by packs of wolves, has found refuge next to the skeleton of a huge mammoth. But this enormous skeleton no longer has any pieces of meat left with which to calm their hunger.
Cornered and starving, everything forebodes a painful ending. But something unusual for any other animal allows them to avoid their tragic fate. To the astonishment of the others, one of the humans picks up a dry and frail bone and pretends to savour and chew with pleasure the tasty meat that covers it. A gesture of charade, fiction or theatre that expresses the powerful yearning to imagine other realities. This capacity will allow him to become, over time, the most powerful and unpredictable animal on the planet.
Markeliñe creates shows with a very personal style. Attention to aesthetics, actors' gestures, and research of objects and languages are the objectives with which it has been working since its creation in 1984. In a clear commitment to original and contemporary creations, the company’s stories engage our current world and times with a critical look at our present and our memories.
