“De qué hablamos cuando hablamos de amor is the theatrical adaptation of one of Raymond Carver’s most famous stories, published in 1981. The play focuses on the theme of love, through four characters chatting in the  kitchen: a “veteran” married couple and a younger pair of friends whose relationship is more recent. In the course of the afternoon, in an atmosphere marked by the changing light, the four share their experiences and their ideas, big and small, about what love means and the need of the other. Romantic and heart-breaking, at the same time realistic and poetic, the play is the reference point of a period that overtakes us with the power of an all-important piece of music.
We want our proposal to be a total immersion in the recurring elements of Carver’s universe: the relationship of couples, love and alcohol as refuge but also as a mortal weapon, predestination versus chance, the literary texture of the American experience.”   Juan Cavestany
