Currents, created by the Festival of Light of Jerusalem, is inspired by the historic dispute of the businessmen and inventors Thomas Alva Edison and Nikola Tesla, creators of direct and alternating current, respectively. Based on that ‘battle of currents’ at the end of the 19th century, the journey of the two opposing sectors is presented on stage through dance and percussion with two very different artistic aesthetics that use lights and sounds to depict what appears to be a dispute with dialogue.
Mayumana consists of an international cast internationally recognised for its versatility in combining dance, percussion and electronic and lighting effects in a unique manner. In the 24 years since its creation, it has offered more than 156,000 performances to more than 8 million spectators in over 40 countries worldwide.
