Singin' in the rain (1952), directed by Gene Kelly and Stanley Donen, starring Kelly himself, Debbie Reynolds and Donald O'Connor, is one of the most successful films of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer’s Golden Age, and one of the most beloved and celebrated musical comedies in the history of film musicals. Its amusing plot is set at the beginning of sound in films; it is full of allusions to other films and spectacular musical numbers, such as the legendary ‘Singin in the rain’, ‘Good morning’ and ‘Beautiful girl’.
The stage adaptation of the iconic musical in Spain, like the ones on Broadway and the West End, has been very successful. A cast of  25 actors and dancers, a live orchestra with 9 musicians, and a large-scale stage design full of technical challenges are the guarantee of a truly unique show.
The story takes place in the decade of the 1920’s when silent films were starting to become obsolete. Sound in film was increasingly popular, and producers had to struggle to stay abreast with the change. Why not have music in these novel productions? Is the new technology as easy as it seems to be? And what about the actors: will they have the talent needed to take part in films with sound.
Nostromo Live is a company that has been producing musicals since its creation in 2017, including Next to Normal, Little Shop of Horrors and La Cage aux Folles. Singin' in the rain is its most ambitious production to date.
