Dicen las madres is an intimate journey through painful memories, affections and tears; a map of wounds that may have healed and others that are still open, eager for suture and company.
Alejandro Palomas shares with us his helplessness after the loss of his mother. He reads his own poems and searches in words for solace for his grief. They are words that speak of grief, but also - and above all - of life, of the light in which it is enveloped and that envelops us, words that stir and move us because all that counts is us, our mothers, our common history, what makes us part of the same whole.
It is impossible to escape from its force. Impossible not to unite with so much sentiment.
Alejandro Palomas (Barcelona, 1967) has a degree in English Philology and a master's degree in poetics from the New College of California. He has combined his incursions in the world of journalism with poetry and the translation of important authors. As a novelist he has published, amongst others, El tiempo del corazón (2002 FNAC Young Talent Award), El alma del mundo (finalist of the 2011 Primavera Award 2011), Un país con tu nombre and Esto no se dice. In 2016, his novel Un hijo won the Premio Nacional de Literatura Juvenil and in 2018 Un amor won the Nadal Award.
He is the author of La isla del aire, based on part of his novel El tiempo que nos une, staged by Nuria Espert and directed by Mario Gas.
