Every single note of the David Hazeltine Trío is a stroke of sound that creates an auditory canvas in constant evolution. At the piano, Haseltine unleashes his masterly skill and fills space with refined harmonies and original compositions. With perfect synchrony, the trio leaves an inedible mark on the soul of those who attend this magical musical performance..
David Hazeltine is one of the few contemporary jazz pianists with a command of technique, accompaniment, arranging, composition and improvisation. His melodies and harmonies are complex and memorable, with a unique, recognisable style that appeals to a wide range of musical tastes and levels of sophistication.
Born in Milwaukee, Hazeltine started playing in clubs as a preteenager, and before turning 18 had attracted the attention and respect of jazz legends such as Sonny Stitt and Chet Baker. They both encouraged him to move to New York, which he did in 1992.
At present, Hazeltine is one of the most sought after pianists. He has worked with great jazz icons such as James Moody, Eddie Harris, Jon Faddis, Joe Henderson, Pepper Adams, Jon Hendricks and Marlena Shaw. And he is the most recorded contemporary jazz pianist of our time, with thirty-five albums as a leader and hundreds more as accompanist, on several of the world’s major labels.
