He needed a family. We wanted one. Unexpected incident of an encounter: the story of a homoparental adoption.

“Adoption is a process in which the most important thing is the minor’s benefit, above any other interest, whether of the biological family or the adoptive family. The objective is to find a family for a minor, and not a minor for a family. Adoption is authorised as a prevention resource for those who cannot always stay with their family. It establishes an affective filiation, one that differs from biological filiation.
The process of national adoption can last up to eight years, and it is not definite until the courts issue the ruling of adoption.
La suerte talks about our own experience as a homoparental and interracial family. An emotional and vital incident, but also a long administrative and judicial procedure the objective of which is to succeed in forming a family.
In addition, La suerte is also a tribute to our son, a tribute that may serve as a “book of life” in the future. We wish to dedicate this project to you, with respect, honesty and emotion.
Lastly, we hope to elicit answers to the following questions: what does it mean to be a normal family? In respect to what parameters, or conditioning factors?” Juli Disla and Jaume Pérez
