Ramón is conceived as a stage lecture to highlight the figure of Ramón Gómez de la Serna (1888-1963), a Spanish writer, journalist and humorist who introduced the avant-garde movements in Spain. It is also a play that highlights the figure of Omar Janaan (1988-¿?), a Spanish comedian who is not remarkable for anything in particular. Omar Janaan plays with the similarities between his and Ramon’s biography and cultural interests by means of a monologue and the use of diverse stage resources. A play in which Omar Janaan will transform himself into the character of Ramón to talk about loneliness, losers, fame, the public, anarchy, humorists and life in general.
Ramón himself wrote theater and was the protagonist of incredible performances and lectures. A good tribute to the figure of Ramón can only take place on stage.
Omar Janaan (Marbella, 1988) is a humorist, transdisciplinary artist and educator. By means of humour, he develops artistic disciplines, such as drawing, storytelling, performance, etc., to create his discourse. His work is a continuous research of all the expressions of humour, and he has actively collaborated with various transdisciplinary artists.
He has worked as a writer and actor in several stage productions together with playwright Alberto Cortés. He is the winner of the call for applications for the art production residency of the Junta de Andalucía for the stage project ¡Perrea! (2023, work in progress).
