Robots is a thriller inspired by real events and that merges the languages of theatre and of cinema.
During the lockdown, Enrique Gálvez, a banker at Banco Futuro, finds out that he is on the list of persons who may be accused of taking part in a corrupt operation carried out by the bank. He cannot imagine that he may have to go to jail: he was only doing what the bank’s President, Carmen Davila, wanted, and now she is trying to find a scapegoat.
Feeling increasingly desperate, he receives a providential phone call from Silvia Becerra, a scientist who is an activist and cooperates with different foundations for the purpose of bringing four robots made with American technology to Spain to perform PCR tests much faster than any others. But the robots cost 4,000,000 euros and are in China.
The pandemic has changed everything, and the bureaucratic and logistical obstacles put the arrival of the robots at risk. Enrique asks the politician Roberto Maldonado for help. The latter is resentful for having been relegated by his party to a mid-level position in the Ministry of Health, considered of secondary importance. Maldonado thinks that the robots could relaunch his career.
Hidden agendas, intense struggles for power and the baseness of the upper echelons are put ahead of the general interest…
